August 15, 2011

Applications for 2012 have now closed.

Cuadrilla’s developing operations in Lancashire have led to the company taking on two students to work in its Geology department.

The students, from Royal Holloway and Keele University, have worked under the watchful eye of Cuadrilla’s Director of Exploration, Peter Turner. Analysing and interpreting data from the company’s operations in Singleton, the students, one of whom is a local, were the first internees to work with Cuadrilla.

Peter, a former Geology Lecturer at University of Birmingham and local man, said: “As a former academic, it has been a great opportunity to include students in our operations and to help bring to life what they’ve learnt so far. As the UK’s first shale gas explorers, our drilling operations have led to some fantastic discoveries, with the British Geological Survey and other geologists actively interested in our findings.

“For Cuadrilla, we are keen to invest in geosciences, and where we can, put something back into the community.”

Cuadrilla will continue to sponsor summer students every year. Those that are interested should email their CV and covering letter to
