Technical Director Mark Lappin will retire from his full time post with Lancashire-based shale gas exploration company Cuadrilla at the end of this month. Dr Sau-Wai Wong will take over the position on March 11, 2019.
Mark has been a key member of the Cuadrilla executive management team since May 2017 and an outstanding technical lead for the company, which is based in Bamber Bridge, Lancashire, close to the shale gas exploration site in Preston New Road, near Blackpool. He will continue to be involved on a part-time basis.
Chief Executive Officer Francis Egan said: “I would like to thank Mark for his huge contribution to both Cuadrilla and UK shale exploration. He will continue to remain involved with the company on a part time basis as an advisor.”
Sau-Wai has a distinguished 30-year international career in the oil and gas industry, mostly with Shell International. He has lived and worked in the US, the UK, Asia and the Middle East and in that time has served as Shell’s Regional Chief Petroleum Engineer and Senior Advisor on Unconventional Resources Technology, amongst other roles.
Francis added: “We are very pleased Sau-Wai Wong will take over as Cuadrilla’s Technical Director in March 2019 and be based in our Bamber Bridge headquarters. Sau-Wai has BSc and PhD degrees in engineering and has particular expertise and experience in shale gas which will be of significant benefit to both Cuadrilla and the UK shale industry as a whole.”
