Weeton

Our Preese Hall site is located in Weeton. Planning consent was granted by Lancashire County Council (LCC) in October 2009 to drill a vertical exploration well into the shale rock, hydraulically fracture the shale and test the flow rate of natural gas from the shale. The well at Preese Hall was drilled to a depth of 9,200ft, with work commencing in August 2010. During hydraulic fracturing, in the spring of 2011, induced seismicity was experienced near the site; you can read more about it here.

Cuadrilla announced in December 2013 that the Preese Hall well was to be plugged with cement and the site restored to Greenfield status. This restoration work was completed in April 2015 in accordance with the planning permission granted by LCC.
